Tattoos should always be original, thus meaningful. You should never have to go on the internet, or flip through books in order to find the exact tattoo you want inked into your skin. Why? Because hundreds of other people have done the same thing, and have the same tattoo as you. I’m not saying that some of the unoriginal art people get done isn’t beautiful—it is. But a tattoo is something that stays forever, and for people flipping through a book looking for a pretty picture—they’re basing their decision on feelings. Feelings change. That is why people may end up regretting their tattoos. Choosing to get tattooed with a certain image “because it looks cool” allows for no personal connection with the piece, thus future feelings of regret.
The decision to get a particular tattoo should be one that takes months of thought—a decision that doesn’t leave even a smidgen of a doubt that it may ever be regretted.
Tattoos last forever. I think some people tend to forget that.
